Resumo: | Prolonged participation in care activities can generate in the caregivers a negative effect on their physical and emotional health, which can be intensified with the progression of the disease, the impossibility of cure and the approximation of death, socioeconomic difficulties that can diminish the well- Being / comfort of these caregivers. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the comfort of the family caregiver of the woman with advanced breast cancer. This cross-sectional, correlational study was carried out from July to October 2016 at the UNACON chemotherapy and radiotherapy outpatient clinics, with the main family caregivers of women with advanced breast cancer who underwent palliative treatment with chemotherapy and / or radiotherapy. The General Comfort Questionnaire (GCQ) questionnaire, composed of 49 questions, was translated and validated in Brazil by Rezende et al. (2005) to evaluate the comfort of caregivers. The sample consisted of 70 main family caregivers, who were invited to sign the Informed Consent Term. The data were analyzed and tabulated, through version 20.0 of the program Statistical Package for the Social Scienses (SPSS). All the ethical and legal aspects related to research with human beings were respected, according to Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council. The results indicated that, 77.1% were female, with age group of 30 39% (28.6%), 62.9% were married or had a stable union, 55.7% had completed High School and were unemployed, with income of 1 to 2 minimum wages (57.1%), 52 , 9% with 1 to 2 children per caregiver. Regarding the analysis of the scale, it was verified that the concern with the family, with the physical and emotional discomfort of the woman and the need for more information about the patient's condition were the items that had the lowest scores of the scale, meaning that such Reduce the comfort / well-being of caregivers. The aspects that favored the increase in comfort were: the relationship between the caregiver and the carer, family relationships and spirituality. The kinship variable had a statistical association with comfort (p: 0.043). Therefore, the questionnaire used in this research allowed identifying the care needs of caregivers, as well as aspects of positive and negative care that may guide the construction of both nursing interventions and the multiprofessional team for this public. The identified positive aspects should be stimulated and valued in caregivers in order to increase resilience and reduce suffering. |

The identified positive aspects should be stimulated and valued in caregivers in order to increase resilience and reduce suffering.
