A participação feminina no Programa Microempreendedor Individual : uma análise em um posto de atendimento Sebrae

Female entrepreneurship presents itself as a field of knowledge on the rise, seeking to know the ways of managing and the main activities undertaken by women. Approaching the female insertion through the Individual Micro-entrepreneur Program (MEI), the present work aimed to characterize and analyze this participation, in order to draw a profile of the formalized woman. To do so, a bibliographical research was carried out, which enabled a greater knowledge of concepts related to the specificities of the female gender in the labor market, as well as the analysis of Law 128/2008, which offered subsidies for the understanding of the requirements, characteristics and benefits of the formalized person. A field research was carried out at a Sebrae’s service station, a place known for the presence of many microentrepreneurs. The research had as a target audience, women who were formalized as MEIs, the interviews were aided by a form, which was able to collect the necessary data for the purposes of the study, and was applied in 33 women. Using quanti-qualis techniques, it was possible to reach the female configuration as a participant in the MEI Program, highlighting the following conclusions: socio demographically, the women consulted present, in a general way, characteristics already observed in other studies. Only dealing with information related to the formalization modality theme of this research, it was verified that the profile of the woman slightly diverges from the General Profile of the Micro-entrepreneur, however presents additional characteristics when the female component is favored, such as a greater informality of the woman before registration and social security benefits as strong motivators for the enrollment of women in the MEI program. Considering the reasons and barriers to act as micro-entrepreneurs in such a program, the strong desire for independence was perceived, having as negative aspect the multiplicity of social roles: wife, mother and businesswoman.
