Resumo: | The elderly population in Brazil is significant, reaching a number of approximately 20 million people aged 60 years or older. However, resources are still scarce for this class, affecting the quality of life and health of individuals. Moreover, this issue is aggravated when it is affected by stigmatizing diseases, such as leprosy. The objective was to characterize the epidemiological panorama and the profile of leprosy recurrence in the elderly in Ceará from 2008 to 2017. An ecological study, carried out with cases of leprosy recurrence reported through the Information System of Information Diseases in the period of 2008 to 2017, available to the Health Secretariat of Ceará. It constituted a population of the study 1001 cases of data relapse, and was added in 269 cases in the elderly. The data were organized and tabulated in the Excel program, version 2013. In the exploratory investigation, they were calculated as absolute and percentage frequencies for the nominal variables. In case the measures were comparative, the means and the standard deviation. In order to calculate the cases of relapse in the elderly in the state of Ceará, we calculated the rate of detection of relapse in the elderly, rate of detection of relapse in adults, rate of detection of relapse in general and cases of relapse cases in the elderly. The research followed the recommendations of resolution 466/12, which regulates research related to humans. Analyzing the data, it can be noticed that the cases are not male (66.5%), with the most affected group being between 70 and 79 years old, in relation to the educational index, with a three-year studies (25 7%). The most affected race was paired with 54.2% in men and 54.4% in women, predominantly in the dimorphic clinical form (37.2%), predominant multibacillary classification (88.5%), in an MDT - MB - 12 doses (87.4%) and zero GIF prevalence. We conclude that cases of relapse are included, and it is necessary to implement schemes that interrupt the transmission chain. |

We conclude that cases of relapse are included, and it is necessary to implement schemes that interrupt the transmission chain. Nogueira, Paula Sacha FrotaAlmeida, Pedro José de2018-11-28T12:15:40Z2018-11-28T12:15:40Z2018info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfALMEIDA, P.
