Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different doses of green coconut shell compound on the initial development, gas exchange and physiology of two soybean cultivars (Pampeana 40 RR and Pampeana 60 RR). The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse belonging to the Department of Phytotechnics, Federal University of Ceará. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (DIC) in a 2x6 factorial arrangement (2 genotypes x 6 doses) with five replications, each repetition formed by one plant, totaling 60 experimental units. Biometric variables (height, leaf number, stem diameter, leaf area and dry matter) and physiological variables (gas exchange, photosynthetic pigments) were evaluated. Significant increments were observed for plant height, stem diameter, leaf number, leaf area, leaf dry mass, stem dry mass and root dry mass when using doses of green coconut shell compost of the order of : 51,10%, 31,60%, 52,83%, 61,78%, 79,65%, 81,52%, 6,06%, respectively. Regarding physiological variables, it was noted that cultivar 60 RR was superior to cultivar 40 RR. The green coconut shell compost had a positive influence on the biometric characteristics of the studied soybean cultivars reaching the best response on average with 30 t of compost per hectare. As variables Chlorophyll b, Total chlorophyll, Liquid photosynthesis, Stomach conductance, Sweating, Internal carbon, carotenoids and water use efficiency, obtain the positive and useful responses when using the green coconut compound.

O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação pertencente ao Departamento de Fitotecnia, da Universidade Federal do Ceará. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado (DIC) em arranjo fatorial 2x6 (2 genótipos x 6 doses) com cinco repetições, sendo cada repetição formada por uma planta, totalizando 60 unidades experimentais. Foram avaliadas variáveis biométricas (altura, número de folhas, diâmetro do caule, área foliar e matéria seca) e variáveis fisiológicas (trocas gasosas, pigmentos fotossintéticos). Foi observado incrementos significativos para as variáveis altura de plantas, diâmetro do caule, número de folhas, área foliar, massa seca das folhas, massa seca do caule e massa seca da raiz quando se utilizou doses de composto de casca de coco verde de ordem de: 51,10%, 31,60%, 52,83%, 61,78%, 79,65%, 81,52%, 6,06%, respectivamente. No que diz respeito às variáveis fisiológicas, nota-se que a cultivar 60 RR foi superior a cultivar 40 RR. O composto de casca de coco verde teve influência positiva nas características biométricas das cultivares de soja estudadas. Atingindo a melhor resposta em média com 30 t do composto por hectare.
