Family farming is an important sector of Brazilian agriculture for generating employment, income and producing food for the domestic market, comprising both farmers with more rudimentary techniques and more modernized ones. In 2017, the state of Ceará was the third with the largest number of agricultural establishments in Brazil, around 297,862, and these were responsible for 40% of the gross value of production, around R$ 2.18 billion. In this context, the objective of this work is to analyze the profile of farmers for the state of Ceará. The data used were obtained from the 2017 Agricultural Census, carried out by the IBGE and submitted to descriptive statistics. It was found that livestock and other animals are the economic activity that demands the most area, most establishments are run by men and adults between 55 and 65 years old, of which 53.32% are literate. It was also observed that only 10.79% of the establishments received technical guidance and 12.79% obtained funding, mostly via Pronaf.
