Background: The Down Syndrome carrier presents a number of associated pathologies, including visual disturbs. The treatment for these dysfunctions is made by visual stimulation, which is combination of techniques that stimulate the visual perceptual ability, aiming to use proper vision improving the overall development of learning and quality of life. Objective: The present study aims to highlight the importance of visual stimulation in children with Down syndrome in view of physical and occupational therapists. Methodology: The survey has been exploratory, descriptive, longitudinal and observational. It concerned physiotherapists (n = 6) and occupational therapists (n = 6) who work with children carrying the Down Syndrome. Data were collected by an open questions questionnaire, individually submitted to by each professional. Results: We note that 8 (67.2%) professionals have over six years of working with children with Down Syndrome, 9 (75%) stated that the signs of visual impairment appear between one and three years of age, 11 (91.6%) use the visual stimulation in their treatments, averaging two to three times per week, and all highlighted the importance of visual stimulation. Conclusion: The visual stimulation brings lots of benefits for the children carrying the Down syndrome, aiming mainly to minimize the visual changes and prevention of complications.
