Revista Entrepalavras, Fortaleza, ano 4, v. 4, n. 1, p. 82-98, jan./jun. 2014.This work, that belongs to a graduation work, aims to reflect about possible directions in news headlines when they presenting ambiguity and, from these reflections, to analyze the occurrences of this phenomenon and how this duplicity of meaning interferes with the understanding of a headline. We try to show that a headline with double meaning can draw attention to the reader. The corpus was composed by printed newspapers from Ituverava city (Brazil) and online newspapers available on internet. We analyze the kinds of ambiguity that were found in the newspapers. We verified that the ambiguity found on headlines can establish different understanding that, in general, confuses the reader in relation to themeaning to be assigned and, that ambiguity is also used in headlines as a strategy to call reader's attention.O presente estudo, que é parte de um trabalho de conclusão de curso, tem por objetivo refletir sobre os sentidos que são possíveis produzir nas manchetes de notícias ao apresentarem ambiguidade e, a partir destas reflexões, analisar as ocorrências deste fenômeno, e como essa duplicidade de sentido interfere na compreensão das manchetes. Busca-se demonstrar também que uma manchete, ao apresentar um sentido ambíguo, pode chamar a atenção do leitor a uma leitura na integra da notícia. A seleção do corpus de análise foi feita a partir de jornais impressos da cidade de Ituverava-SP, bem como de jornais online disponíveis. A análise foi desenvolvida por meio dos tipos de ambiguidade encontrados. Verificamos que a duplicidade de sentido presente nas manchetes pode acarretar distintas interpretações que geralmente confundem o leitor em relação ao sentido a ser atribuído, e que a ambiguidade é utilizada nas manchetes também como estratégia de atrair a atenção do leitor para a notícia, aguçando a curiosidade em desvendá-la.Revista Entrepalavras2017-07-24T12:58:29Z2017-07-24T12:58:29Z2014info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleapplication/pdfGuiraldelli, L.
