This work studies the democratic condition of countries members of the Union of South American Nations, as a condition for a model of integration strong and concise, towards the development of the region. Through a bibliographical and documentary research was made a historical analysis from the beginning of the integration process of the continent in the sixties, until now with the expansion and solidification process by UNASUR. It was observed that, for a truly fruitful international cooperation, the implementation of more appropriate democracies for the area becomes a prerequisite. In turn, these democracies will be the support of the full integration model that aims to be established between the countries of UNASUR. For this reason, it becomes extremely important to analyze the democratic condition in which they are found. Based on this study which aims to illustrate the necessity and importance of South American integration to keep the democratic system in constant improvement, in the search of the real needs of the citizens of these countries.
