Resumo: | This work presents the characteristics of an automation solution proposed for the improvement of an industrial process in a nut factory. This work process deals with the drying of cashew nut almonds and was developed in one of the greenhouses in the sector. The almonds are inserted in stationary greenhouses that are equipped with a heating system that works by convection. At the top of the structures there is a pipe that is traversed by saturated steam produced by an industrial boiler. The drying process takes place by convection inside the greenhouses. The need to ensure a more precise operation of the greenhouses was observed, since the temperature control of the rooms was done manually by the operators and very susceptible to failures and deviations. Thus, a survey of the application conditions was carried out and a low-cost automation that would meet the company's needs was proposed. A ON/OFF control system using a temperature controller is proposed to deal with this issue. The equipment monitors the temperature of the system through the signal sent by a temperature sensor of the type PT-100 installed inside the rooms and controls the flow of steam in the greenhouse’s pipe through an electropneumatic valve installed in the pipeline. The work provides details of the main components used in the implementation of the solution and a comparison is made between manual and automatic operation. Different setups were tested and the results are shown in graphs. The proposed improvement technique was justified by the comparison between the experimental data and the manual operation. |

O processo no qual o trabalho foi desenvolvido envolve a secagem de amêndoas de castanhas de caju e foi desenvolvido em uma das estufas existentes no setor. As amêndoas são inseridas em estufas estacionárias que são dotadas de um sistema de aquecimento que trabalha por convecção. No topo das estruturas existe uma tubulação que é percorrida por vapor saturado produzido por uma caldeira industrial. O processo de secagem acontece por convecção no interior das estufas. Observou-se a necessidade de garantir uma operação mais precisa das estufas, uma vez que o controle da temperatura das salas era feito de forma manual pelos operadores e bastante suscetível a falhas e desvios. Assim, foi realizado o levantamento das condições da aplicação e proposta uma automação de baixo custo que atendesse às necessidades da empresa. A melhoria consiste em um sistema de controle do tipo ON/OFF utilizando um dispositivo conhecido como controlador de temperatura. Esse equipamento monitora a temperatura do sistema através do sinal enviado por um sensor de temperatura do tipo PT-100 instalado no interior das salas e controla o fluxo de vapor nas serpentinas das estufas através de uma válvula eletropneumática instalada na tubulação. O trabalho traz o detalhamento dos principais componentes utilizados na implementação da solução e é feito um comparativo entre a operação manual e a automática. Foram realizados ensaios com diversas condições de trabalho nas salas e os resultados ilustrados em gráficos.
