Resumo: In geotechnical engineering, foundations must meet satisfactory conditions of bearing capacity and settlements. There are several ways to estimate settlements, one of which is based on percussion drilling (SPT) using semi-empirical methods. The present work proposes an evaluation of settlement predictions by the methods of Poulos and Davis (1980), Aoki (1984) and Bowles (1997) of 7 piles driven in typical soil profiles of the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza (RMF) and manufactured in reinforced concrete. For that, the load tests were analyzed, obtaining the settlement values for the workload comparing them with predictions made from 6 percussion drilling holes. In addition, estimates were compared between settlement forecasting methods in order to assess the proximity of the results to each other. In general, the settlements presented an order of magnitude compatible with what was expected. The method by Poulos and Davis (1980) presented the most consistent results for most piles and the method by Bowles (1997) presented the most discordant results, overestimating the settlements. Aoki's (1984) method presented intermediate estimates, being closer to Bowles's (1997) method for most piles.

Brazilian Journal of Animal and Environmental Research2023-02-09T12:46:51Z2023-02-09T12:46:51Z2022info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleapplication/pdfMOURA, A.
