Resumo: The study of the categories has a strong influence on the process of scientific knowledge. The categories are major general concepts which classify and differentiate all things based on studies of definitions of gender, species, differences, self, and accidental. The application of these concepts constitutes the background for studying the Aristotle´s logic and for elaboration of definitions, a fundamental essence of the scientific knowledge.
