Decoronação como conduta para anquilose após reimplante dentário : relato de caso

Necrosis of the periodontal ligament leads to a process of fusion of the dental root with the alveolar bone, called dental ankylosis. Such a condition may be caused by factors such as dento-alveolar trauma or genetic and idiopathic conditions. Although there is still no definitive treatment for dental ankylosis, decoronation is a well indicated management for some clinicalsituations. This practice consists of removing the crown of the ankylosed tooth, below the cemento-enamel junction, and burial of the dental root. Subsequently, in the treatmentsperformed in pediatric patients, it is necessary to install an aesthetic and functional space maintainer. The objective of this study is to report the case of a female patient, 11 years old, who came to the outpatient clinic of the Oraldental Trauma Center of the Federal University of Ceará after falling from her height. Avulsions of the teeth 11 and 21 occurred, and they were stored in physiological solution. Reimplants occurred 120minutes after the trauma. Decorations were performed, followed by installation of aesthetic and functional space maintainer. The present case presents a follow-up of 8 years.
