Resumo: In this work we provide a proposal for improvement in teaching and learning of mathematics for elementary school students. We present a brief historical of the diferent algebra concepts throughout its history and how was the teaching of algebra in Brazil. After that, we provide the teaching method, which aim to teach the first-degree equation concepts in a clear and concrete way, so that the students realize the elements and the importance of equations in education and in everyday life and learn the subject more clearly. However, this proposal is only developed and successfully applied if the educator use digital equipment in its classes to allow the student a good understanding of the subject taught in the classroom. Finally, we present a brief history of the different algebra concepts throughout history and how was the teaching of algebra in Brazil.

Apresenta um pequeno histórico das diferentes concepções da álgebra ao longo da sua história e como se deu o ensino da álgebra no Brasil. O presente trabalho fornecerá ao docente um método, que terá o objetivo de ensinar os conceitos de equação do 1º grau de maneira clara e concreta, de modo que o discente perceba os fundamentos e a importância das equações no ensino e no cotidiano e aprendam o assunto com mais clareza. Porém essa proposta só será desenvolvida e aplicada com sucesso, se o educador utilizar nas suas aulas equipamentos digitais para possibilitar ao educando uma boa compreensão do assunto ministrado em sala.
