The theme of traffic accidents is recurrent in contemporary society, because the economic consequences and the damage to health are of significant gravity and when taking into account accidents with cargo vehicles, the losses are of extreme magnitude, generating high expenses with vehicle repair, loss of load and loss of life. In this way, this work aims to obtain data related to the perception of cargo vehicle drivers in Ceará about the factors that impair the driving and may cause accidents, as well as a brief explanation of the drivers' view on road safety. The problem emphasizes the relevance of the study aimed at drivers of cargo vehicles in the state, as a way to better understand the obstacles faced by them. The research was carried out in the form of a questionnaire that could be answered via an online form, and the responses were analyzed and compared with the researched literature, classifying the factors that cause accidents into: route / environment factor, human factor and vehicle factor. It was concluded that the human factor is the one that, in the opinion of drivers, most influences the occurrence of accidents, and it is also to them that they feel most exposed. In general, the interviewees were aware of the risks that exist on the roads and do not feel very safe when driving on the highways.
