This paper presents the application of a Multi-criteria decision making aid method, in this case the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, in the portfolio management process aiming at prioritizing software company projects, based on the established criteria and sub-criteria, building the best alternatives and obtaining the best performance through projects that may contribute to the company’s growth, and evaluate the results of applying the AHP method. Therefore, a case study was conducted, seeking to investigate the application of the method to prioritize portfolio projects. For modeling the problem, the Super Decision tool was used, and the choice is justified, because its license is free for researchers and also was developed by Thomas L. Saaty, creator of the AHP method. To carry out the research, meetings were held with the portfolio manager, responsible for the decision making process, in order to 1) present the AHP method and the proposed work; 2) define the criteria, sub-criteria used to compare alternatives and collect available projects; 3) define the importance weights of each criterion and sub-criterion, and that of each alternative in relation to a given evaluation parameter; 4) model the whole problem in the tool and generate the prioritized list and 5) validate the generated model. The application of the adopted model generates a prioritized list of projects belonging to the NPI portfolio and the validation by devices applies the consistency of the results on the decision making problem, and the assistant or manager in the decision making, besides proving the importance of the problem. use of the proposed model in the decision making process.
