Resumo: Introduction: Stroke is a sudden neurological dysfunction where most survivors display neurological changes and significant residual disabilities.Bbesides causing deficits in movement of limbs, gait, balance and speech, abnormal trunk control is also an important commitment. Objective: The objective was to verify the influence of postural control and balance in gait of stroke sequel. Methodology: The study used a cross-sectional study involving 30 patients with stroke sequela. They were used: the Postural Assessment Scale after Stroke (PASS) to assess postural control; Test Timed Up and Go (TUG) and Evaluation of the March and Oriented Balance for Performance (POMA), both to evaluate the progress and the last to assess balance. Results: There was moderate correlation (r: 0.479 and p: 0.007) between the PASS - maintaining a posture and TUG and between PASS - change of position and TUG (r: 0.493 and p: 0.006). By comparing the POMA - Balance and TUG, it was observed moderate correlation (r: 0.604 and p: 0.000) and between POMA - balance and POMA - march there was a statistically strong correlation (r: 0.970 and p: 0.000). Among PASS - maintaining a posture and POMA - march revealed that the level of correlation was statistically strong (r: 0.838 and p: 0.000), with the same level found between PASS - change posture and POMA - speed (r: 0.847 and p: 0.000). Conclusion: The results suggest that individuals with stroke have impaired postural control, balance and gait and that there is a significant association between the parameters of thesevariables.

Revista Fisioterapia & Saúde Funcional2016-09-01T12:29:04Z2016-09-01T12:29:04Z2016-01info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articleapplication/pdfANTUNES, J.
