Resumo: The human interference in the environment has provoked in an accelerated way the imbalance and disappearance of some ecosystems, mainly aquatic, causing chances in their physicalchemical and biological structures. The brook Maceio belonging to the Papicu/Maceio located in the city of Fortaleza, lies within that reality, presenting a channel almost all channeled and with water polluted by domestic sewage, leading to a mischaracterization regarding morphological, geological and ecological aspect. The present work has as main objective the realization an environmental assessment outfall of the Maceio stream, analyzing the sedimentological and hydrological aspects in rainy and dry periods. The study area is located at the outfall, being an import concentration point for sediments and pollutants carried throughout the Papicu/Maceio water system. For the research, five sampling points were defined, located at outfall of the Maceio stream and Mucuripe beach (in front, upstream and downstream of the outfall). The field stages involved sediment and water collections, during the months of June and September, as indicative of the rainy and dry period, respectively. The laboratory steps consisted of granulometric characterization, determination of organic matter, indication of calcium carbonate in the sediment and determination of the concentration of thermotolerant coliforms in the water. The results indicate the predominance fo the sandy fraction at the five collection points, the average diameter ranging from fine sand to medium sand, predominantly moderately selected sediments. The values of calcium carbonate found in sediments presented minimum values of 2.76% and maximum of 9%, in the samples of the rainy and drought periods. The concentration of organic matter present in the sediments ranged from 0% to 0.96% in the two sampling periods. Regarding water quality high values of thermotolerant coliforms were found ranging from 1400 to 14000 NMP/100mL int the rainy season and <180 to 17000 NMP/100mL int the dry season. Therefore, in the study area there is a predominance of a substrate composed of lithoclastic sediments of quarts sand, with traces of organic matter. Regarding water quality, it is observed that the water is contaminated, impacting this ecosystem and causing risks to human health, some mitigating measures are necessary for the conservation of this water resource

Regarding water quality, it is observed that the water is contaminated, impacting this ecosystem and causing risks to human health, some mitigating measures are necessary for the conservation of this water resourceA interferência humana no meio ambiente tem provocado de maneira acelerada o desequilíbrio e desaparecimento de alguns ecossistemas, principalmente os aquáticos, causando alterações em suas estruturas físico-químicas e biológicas.
