Resumo: At the end of 2019, the village of Wuhan, in China, was identified for the first time the appearance of a new virus, in reality a new variation of SARS-CoV, however, unlike the variations of SARS-CoV, in the last decades, the now Covid-19 has spread rapidly across the province, causing severe respiratory damage. Immediately, news reports warned of high rates, initially in the city of Wuhan, then spreading in China and South Korea, and onwards to Europe, and how such places behaved in the face of the outbreak, since the suspension of public transport, closing of places, even the compulsory home restriction to citizens. In view of the new reality, it was necessary to seek alternatives to adapt various sectors essential to the citizen to the new situation, among them education, starting with the area of this work, Mathematics, even before the pandemic reality, the discipline was already being highly demanded for changes, so that it would leave the mechanical field and allow itself to promote learning that could motivate students to study, providing them with favorable conditions for them to enjoy and learn. One way that this motivation can be promoted is through the holding and participation of Olympics, which transform the classroom into a field of productivity, creativity and interactivity. However, even the Olympics suffered from the impacts of the pandemic, most of which were postponed, others managed to adapt and occurred, such as the Kangaroo of Mathematics. This study presents a reflection on the impact of the pandemic in the face of the mathematical Olympics, and how the motivating role took place in a period when students were away from schools. This study used students from the Paulo Aragão School of EF S / N Cohab II, in Sobral, Ceará, as a field of analysis. The methodology adopted was a case study with quali-quantitative analysis. The research results showed that even with some criticism, the Mathematics Kangaroo managed to fulfill even its virtual role of motivating students and teachers in the search for scientific knowledge, even suffering the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
