Resumo: The aim of this work is to propose and verify the hypothesis thattraffic counts collected at network intersections, instead of those collected on links, reduce indeterminacy and make more accurate reconstruction of the synthetic OD matrix. After summarizing the state of art, the proposed method is described and experiments were carried out in order to verify the hypothesis. TransCAD was the commercial software used to perform the tests. Five scenarios were proposed, two corresponding to the state of art and three simulating the new method, in order to verify not only the effect of using nodes counts, but also the amount and distribution of the traffic counts on the network. The main conclusion was that the OD matrix reconstruction based on traffic counts collected at network intersections presents a better performance in contrast to the traditional methods based on links counts. Therefore, the formulated hypothesis for this work cannot be refuted

Therefore, the formulated hypothesis for this work cannot be refutedO objetivo deste trabalho é propor e verificar a hipótese de que contagem de tráfego nas interseções da rede de transportes, ao invés de contagem de tráfego nos arcos, reduz o grau de indeterminação e torna mais precisa a modelagem da matriz OD sintética. Após breve revisão teórica sobre o estado da arte do tema, apresentou-se o detalhamento da proposta e foram realizados testes experi-mentais a fim de comprovar a hipótese formulada. TransCAD foi o software comercial usado na realização de testes. Cinco cenários fo-ram avaliados, dois correspondentes ao atual estado da arte e três simulando a aplicação da proposta apresentada neste artigo, de formaa verificar não apenas o efeito do uso das contagens nos nós, mas também da quantidade e distribuição destas contagens na rede. Os re-sultados obtidos com a aplicação do método proposto neste trabalho foram superiores aos provenientes dos métodos utilizados atual-mente, principalmente nas situações em que não se dispõem de matrizes semente de qualidade.
