O ensino de disciplinas teológicas em uma Instituição de Ensino Superior Católica: conteúdos, metodologias - entre desafios e possibilidades

Teaching of theological disciplines at confessional universities is a valuable and effective educational instrument for its enriching Christian message and its solid values. Therefore, this paper aims to present the contexts of such disciplines: their contents and practices. The research framework enfolded a Catholic Institution of Higher Learning through a professor’s teaching practice along with an interdisciplinary action engaging all the students. From the theoretical background to a concrete experience account, it was realized that there are consistent formative possibilities and real limits. Identity awareness of theological science offers the goals for a steady and safe reflection, in light of faith commissioned by Church, which it needs to be didactically adapted and suitable for a formation aligned with Christian humanism, without prompting a proselytize catechism or unquestionable indoctrination. This paper highlights such aspects. Nevertheless, a wider extent experience signaled that an ethical option is still unsatisfactory. Indeed, not only such bright possibilities can be faced, of which there are many, but it matters to stress that in regard to them, countless challenges add up to educate, teach and not just instructing. Advancements and limits were verified in such endeavor to educate lined up with values.
