Resumo: Cancer is the generic name that contemplates several neoplasms characterized by unbridled cell growth and formation of tumor microenvironment. Since cancer is a global health problem still in the year 2019, research institutes develop studies with substances from various sources, aiming at new alternatives of treatments to neoplasms. Among these sources, the marine environment stands out, which since the 1950s has proven to be a rich source of substances with antitumor property. One of the compounds obtained through the treatment of substances obtained from the marine environment and that have good results in the treatment of neoplasms are chromomycins, belonging to the group of aureolic acids. The online survey of patents that focus on the use of these compounds for cancer treatment in the Espacenet and Google Patents platforms and in the national INPI platform is the basic strategy for conducting a technological prospection, which aims to evaluate the numbers related to the number of patented productions, nationally and internationally, and thus infer whether the scenario is promising or not for new productions and patents on these compounds. In addition, the work also aimed to analyze the international panorama of works related to chromomycins, relating to the realities of each country, and making analyses of some of the patents raised. The methodology consisted in the use of strategic keywords that would direct the research not only to the compounds that focus the work, but also to anti-cancer treatments in general. The key words were analyzed individually, and then the analysis was done with combinations of these with the focus substances of the current work. The largest number of results obtained in the patent search for the focus compounds and other anticancer treatments were found on the Google Patents platform. Most of the applicants were private pharmaceutical companies. The main applicant country for patents in the surveys was the United States. In general, due to the low number of results obtained from patents related to this specific group in the three platforms, the technological prospecting concludes that chromomycins qualify as a very promising group to be studied and explored, taking into account that previous studies showed promising results for the group in the treatment of neoplasms.
