Agribusiness floriculture played an important role in the Brazilian economy, with rapid spread in the country, especially in the Northeast, where we highlight the state of Ceará. Since 1999, some business owners, interested in the florist business, settled in the mountain region of Ibiapaba, more precisely in the municipality of São Benedito, making Ceará one of the major producers and exporters of flowers in Brazil. In this context, this study aims to characterize the flower shop in the city of São Benedito and its socio-economic development in 2000 and 2010, and seeks to answer the following question: what is the characterization of floriculture in São Benedito? This paper assumes that the characterization of the flower-growing agribusiness in São Benedito is important to have a dimension of the city's potential and an economic and social vision of it, given that the activity has broad national and international market, with clear comparative advantages in Ceará, which also justifies the choice of theme. From this study, it was found that the activity was highlighted in the city due to some advantages for proper cultivation of flowers, such as weather, around 23 degrees Celsius, and the altitude above 900 meters above level sea. Another plus was the construction of the São Benedito airport, which facilitated the sale of floricultural products for export. It was also, that the development of floriculture agribusiness in Sao Benedito, boosted the growth of this segment in agropolo Ibiapaba and Ceará. Thus, it was concluded that the florist is a new step in the quest to generate employment and income for the city studied. It might even conclude that the segment is profitable and characterized by a booming market, however, there is a need for greater financial investment, political, scientific and technical.
