Resumo: The soccer, rather a means of leisure, has become a media spectacle. With an emphasis on the thinking of the intellectuals of the Frankfurt School, this article aims to analyze the fight against modern soccer promoted by the largest organized crowd in the country, Gaviões da Fiel, related to the influence exerted by the Cultural Industry on this sport. Methodologically, the study is based on bibliographical research and content analysis of Jornal O Gavião, the main means used by the crowd to approach the subject. It is concluded that Gaviões da Fiel’s stance opposes the surveys of the frankfurtian thinkers, according to which football would be an instrument of manipulation. There is no alienation from the fans about contemporary events.

Com ênfase no pensamento dos intelectuais da Escola de Frankfurt, o presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a luta contra o futebol moderno promovida pela maior torcida organizada do País, a Gaviões da Fiel, relacionada à influência exercida pela Indústria Cultural sobre este esporte. Metodologicamente o estudo se baseia na pesquisa bibliográfica e na análise de conteúdo do Jornal O Gavião, principal meio utilizado pela torcida para abordar o assunto. Conclui-se que a postura adotada pela Gaviões da Fiel se opõe aos levantamentos dos pensadores frankfurtianos, de acordo com os quais o futebol seria instrumento de manipulação.
