Resumo: This study aimed to meet the requirements of the Mandatory Internship Course. The work consisted in monitoring the administrative and management activities that are performed in the dairy cattle industry, aiming to expose and improve the knowledge acquired in the classroom during the graduation period, supervised by a professional technician. The internship was conducted from July to September in the year of 2015, in the dairy cattle sector of Tijuca Alimentos farm, located in the Ceará east coast, 79 km from Fortaleza-CE. Effective herd in August 2015 was 11,280 animals, with 148 animals in growing period, 174 replacement heifers, 132 pregnant heifers, 369 milking cows, 99 dry cows, 206 males and one breeder. At the time, the farm was working predominantly with Girolando animals. Production area was divided according to the categories of animals, being calf housing, replacement, dry cows, milking cows subdivided into different lots, pre calving heifers and cows, postpartum and slaughter animals. The study started in the calves sector, where feeding, vaccinations, deworming and other activities pertinent to this category were performed. After that, I followed the activities of the batch of dry cows and replacement animals. In this area, I had the opportunity to follow vaccinations, administration of hormones, heat observation, artificial insemination, weighing, and diet supply. Weighing were made in these animals in predetermined interval of days in order to check the body weight of heifers with the purpose of not delay or anticipate their age to be inseminated, also paying attention to weight gain in this phase. Finally, I followed the activities conducted with milking cows: milking, pregnancy confirmation, artificial insemination, heat observation, application of hormones, as well as verification of the quantity and quality of milk produced.

Pereira, Elzania SalesCuz, Antonio Ariclezio Carlos2018-10-01T22:28:34Z2018-10-01T22:28:34Z2015info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesisapplication/pdfCRUZ, Antonio Ariclezio Carlos.
