Resumo: | Several efforts have been undertaken by academics and practitioners for the adoption of BIM in construction. However, these studies are limited with regards to the analysis of different sizes of projects and companies. There is a lack of studies that take an approach on the Small Companies and Small Construction Projects. Furthermore, the literature points out a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) as an important means of structuring BIM implementation in enterprises. This plan formalizes the technological and procedural arrangements, making clear the roles and responsibilities of the project participants. Given the importance of this plan, documents for its elaboration have already been created by academics and practitioners that are again flawed with regards of the size of the companies and the project, and little clarify the context of small companies and small projects. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the use of BEP in Small Companies of Civil Construction. For that, three case studies were carried out in Small Companies from the state of Ceará. Through in-depth interviews, it was possible to investigate the current involvement of these companies with BIM, as well as the view of managers about the importance of BEP for the success of BIM. As results, it was verified the still incipient stage of involvement of companies with BIM, which follows a general trend of the Brazilian construction sector. Still, none of the companies had developed a BEP, although they recognized its importance and indicated that information for this plan would be useful and viable, based on a list of literature items. In addition, barriers were identified to explain why both BIM and BEP are not being full applied in these companies and are not being applied in its all projects. For example, its highlight the low perception of customers about the advantages of BIM and the nature of Small Companies that require rapid projects development and construction, among others. These issues allowed the proposition of six guidelines to help companies get around this situation, constituting an important practical contribution of work. Moreover, these guidelines make room for future work to be developed in this area of research on BIM. Thus, it can be concluded by the still embryonic stage of application of PEB in Small Companies. It is necessary to allow the adaptation of models of BEP present in the literature to the context of Small Companies and this work was the source of insight for this effort. These contributing to the construction management literature, especially for construction management in Small Copanies and to the body of knowledge about BIM. |

It is necessary to allow the adaptation of models of BEP present in the literature to the context of Small Companies and this work was the source of insight for this effort. These contributing to the construction management literature, especially for construction management in Small Copanies and to the body of knowledge about BIM.Diversos esforços têm sido empreendidos por acadêmicos e profissionais para a adoção do BIM na construção civil.
