This research aims to study the supply chain management. In its first part, it presents the main concepts that were developed to establish a theoretical framework on the management of the supply chain. Next, we conducted a case study of the steel industry to observe and analyze the management practices adopted in its supply chain. The research presented is relevant because the gains from good management of the supply chain are significant. This monograph aims to generally understand the fundamentals of supply chain management, used as tools of competitive strategy for a leading company in the steel sector in the Americas. Specific objectives are present and understand the concepts supply chain, value chain and supply chain, the features and functions of business logistics, the concept of collaborative management and conduct case study analysis of the concepts studied. It was verified that the management of the supply chain is responsible for coordinating the actions of organizational actors along the chain to, from demand management, lead processes in order to maximize customer value. Integrated logistics is one part of the supply chain management, she plans and coordinates the flow of materials and information balancing cost and service level. The Rapid Response Programs are processes that use technology to promote collaborative decisions and information sharing along the supply chain and are significant for demand management and inventory. Through the case study it was noticeable that even in competitive industries and without intensive use of technology you can manage relations strategically to maximize value in the final offer.
