The costume is very important to convey the message of what is being watched through the garments used. This work is a result of the research done on the costumes of singer Beyoncé on her tour The Mrs. Carter, analyzing how their particularities influence the empowerment of women. She has researched that in her shows, singer Beyoncé uses these costumes to convey, along with the lyrics, her opinions about the woman's body, and about how women help themselves in society, and can wear the clothes in their favor , not attaching importance to socially pre-established clothing patterns. With Western society women have gained more space to expose their opinions and their positions as to their own freedom. But this has not always been the case, women have long been oppressed by individuals in their social group and by the dresses that were imposed on them, such as the use of corsets. Understanding the importance that the costume and its symbolism have brought to help empower women is fundamental to understanding the purpose of this study. The methodology of the study is exploratory, using bibliographical and documentary research, being of qualitative basis. The main results obtained in the work demonstrate the relevance of the dress on the female body, which is an important fact to help the detachment of women regarding social and gender patterns. The work contributes socially demonstrating the importance of dressing for women, analyzing how the elements presented in the costumes of the Beyoncé show help in this choice from the symbology that such pieces pass to the fans. The research is important for starting a reflection to understand the current scenario of society, the importance of music and costumes used in singers' performances, influencing the choices and empowerment of women, who project their images and use of clothing as a form to show who they are. The research aims to contribute to studies on gender, fashion and acceptance of the female body.
