This work was carried out aiming at the development of a newceramic shell formula to be applied in the foundry investmentcasting practices at the Foundry Laboratory.This technique uses a wax model that is covered by several layers refractory (of different compositions) until forming the mold.Then, upon heating in the oven,the waxdrips down the base of the mold.The hollow mold is calcined, preheated and filled with liquid metal. After cold, it is broken to obtain the piece. The laboratory has experimented with various materials over time and all of them were sufficienttocarry out a practice that would provide an overview of the process to students.Aiming to use a method more similar to the industrial one and the manufacture of parts with better quality, the present study was carried out using a new material (refractory clay) and testing various combinations of it with the materials that were previously used. The qualityof the produced parts was evaluated to see if the initial objectives hadbeen achieved.
