Objective: To analyze the father's involvement in a high-risk pregnancy according to maternal sociodemographic characteristics and prenatal care. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional observational study, with a quantitative and analytical approach, carried out in two primary health care units in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. The study was sampled for convenience, with recruitment after prior analysis of the medical records of the pregnant women treated at the two units, with the participation of 130 pregnant women at usual risk. Data collection took place from May 2022 to March 2023, through the application of the Father's Involvement in Pregnancy Inventory and the Sociodemographic, Obstetric and Prenatal Care Characterization Form prepared by the authors. The study was submitted and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Ceará, via Plataforma Brasil. Data were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS software, version 22.0, using Spearmann's Correlation tests and Mann- Whitney U test. Results: It was found that there is less involvement of the father in the pregnancy when: there is lower family income (p=0.005), there are more pregnancies including the current one (p-0.035), there are more cohabiting children (p-0.035), the pregnant woman has no paid occupation during pregnancy (p-0.049) and does not live with her partner (p<0.001). Conclusion: Socioeconomic barriers were evident when the father's involvement in the pregnancy was investigated, which suggests the importance of raising awareness among health professionals to identify this public and encourage their participation in the women's pregnancy process, a fact that can positively impact their quality of life of postpartum women, as well as the well-being of the child, providing opportunities for healthy growth.
