Solid waste has always been present in societies, and when poorly managed, they can cause several environmental problems. The objective of the work was to show the situation of solid waste in Brazil, after the National Solid Waste Policy - PNRS, of 2010, focusing on the final disposal of waste, recycling and solid waste plans of the Brazilian states and capitals. For this, research was carried out in the National Sanitation Information System - SNIS, in the official websites of the states and capitals, and in the National Association of Waste Pickers. It can be seen that after 10 years the PNRS was unable to give a new face to the country's waste, since there are still capitals that go to controlled landfills and six states and three capitals that do not have waste plans, in addition to recycling in country is not well divided. On the other hand, some Brazilian regions are able to stand out positively, as in the case of the south-southeast axis, which has good recycling data and although they have not been able to eliminate all controlled dumps and landfills, they have made great progress in the implementation of landfills. With the work, the need for municipalities to come together through solid waste consortia, integrated management plans and, above all, pre-landfill policies, with a view to valuing recycling and the use of waste, can be clearly seen.
