The Repetitive Strain Injuries and Musculoskeletal Disorders Related to Work (RSI\MDRW) affect a large proportion of professionals from various field, including dental professionals, in view of various repetitive motion and postural detects adopted during the service, besides the lack of ergonomics in the workplace. Objective: Verify the pain complaints and signs of RSI and their work-related prevalence of dentists. Methodology: Data were collected through a cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study. Was held the application of a validate questionnaire entitled Nordic Musculoskeletal Symptoms Questionnaire, containing objective questions with the scope to analyze sociodemographic and occupational variables for a sample of 20 dentists surgeons who worked in dental center in the city of Fortaleza/CE, during the period august- september of 2010. Results: The dentists surveyed 95% (n=19) reported having had musculoskeletal disorders in at least one body part over the last year due to professional activity. The most prevalent regions reported by the professionals were the cervical spine 80% (n=16) and lumbar 70% (n=14). Conclusions: Therefore, trough the knowledge of this study of RSI that affects dentists surgeons, becomes evident the need for a physical therapy work directed to preventing, with the objective of evaluating pain complaints, as well as the prevalence, frequency, location and predetermining its factors, besides improving the ergonomically work environment and minimize musculoskeletal problems, providing more quality job performance.
