Access to information and knowledge is essential in contemporaneous society, mainly in the academic environment; however this access is not an easy task, especially for people with disabilities. In the case of deaf people, the difficulty rests on the access to information and communication. Regarding this context, videos in Br azilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) concerning the information about the service offere d by the Library System of Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) were developed, aiming to promote accessibility of information and communication for the production of knowledge to th e deaf community which uses the system. This work involved different sectors of the university: the Library System, the Undergraduate Course in Literature/LIBRAS and the Teleinformatic Engineering Department. To develop the device, videos were recorded using low-resolution cameras and then converted to flash format, the dominant standard format for video on the internet. The videos contain the translation into Brazilian Sign Language of presentations (slide) in powerpoint format containing informational content. This work intends to increase the use of services offered by the Library System of Universidade Federal do Ceará by users with deafness, and also disseminate the Brazilian Sign Language knowledge in the academic environment, providing greater accessibility of information and communication to those users and thus facilitate acquisition and production of knowledge. In this context, the production of accessible informational contents is a necessity to meet deaf people informational demand, having information and communication technologies as fundamental allies in contemporaneity.
