In this work we present an approach to Einstein’s theory of gravitation. In order to do this we start stating Galileo’s principle of relativity and we formulate Newton’s laws of motion. We then make a brief review about the history of gravitation, expliciting the motivations which led the passage from one model to another, and concluding with Newton’s theory of gravitation. After discussing some aspects of the special theory of relativity, we make a short formulation of the theory. Finally we show how the search for a generalization of the principle of relativity leads us naturally to a theory of gravitation that is capable of explaining all the observed gravitational phenomena until now.
