Considerações sobre a regionalização do turismo no "meio-norte" brasileiro

This study presents some considerations about the regionalization of tourism that is being developed in the Brazilian Northeast specially in the states of Ceará, Piauí and Maranhão through the Plano de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da Região Turística (PDSRT) do Meio-Norte (Sustainable Development Plan of the Tourist Region of the Mid-North). This plan is an initiative of the Federal Government of Brazil in partnership with the governments of each of the states members and aims the sustainable regional development of the brazilian sub-region, which has one of the highest poverty levels in the country. The PDSRT makes the tourism a tool to combat poverty in this region to deal with this problem. A reflection on the proposal of the plan was done bringing up the discussion between tourism and the development / implementation of this policy toward the regional contexto, especially for the Mid-North region. At the end of the study some of the actions that are being proposed by the Plan are placed, so we can visualize its importance for regional development.
