Consumo de macronutrientes em mulheres com dor miofascial da musculatura mastigatória

Resumo: Temporomandibular dysfunction has profound impacts on patient’s life quality, including eating difficulties and changes in eating habits. This study aimed to evaluate the macronutrient consumption by women with myofascial pain of the masticatory muscles. The sample consisted of 21 women, aged between 18 and 55 years, with diagnosis of myofascial masticatory pain according to the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC / TMD). For the evaluation of food consumption, the food diary was used and the analyzed items were: fibers, carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Avanutri Online® software was used to account for the food item and the data were compared with the reference values: Adequate Intake for fibers and the Acceptable Macronutrients Distribution for carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. The SPSS Statistics 17 software was used for the statistical analysis. The individual ingestion averages of each macronutrient were compared to the reference values (AMDR and AI) using the Mann-Whitney U test. A significance level of 5% was used. The findings indicated low fiber intake and consumption of carbohydrates, proteins and lipids within the reference values. It is concluded that patients with myofascial pain present a reduction in the consumption of dietary fibers.

Este estudo objetivou avaliar o consumo de macronutrientes em mulheres com dor miofascial da musculatura mastigatória. A amostra foi composta por 21 mulheres, com idade entre 18 e 55 anos com diagnóstico de dor miofascial da musculatura mastigatória de acordo com o Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD). Para a avaliação do consumo alimentar, utilizou-se o diário alimentar e os itens analisados foram: fibras, carboidratos, proteínas e lipídeos. O software Avanutri Online® foi utilizado para contabilização do consmo alimentar e os dados foram comparados com os valores de referência: Adequate Intake, para fibras, e o Acceptable Macronutrients Distribuition para carboidratos, proteínas e lipídeos. Para a análise estatística utilizou-se o software SPSS Statistics 17. As médias individuais de ingestão de cada macronutriente foram comparadas aos valores de referência (AMDR e AI) utilizando o teste de U de Mann-Whitney. Um nível de significância de 5% foi utilizado. Os achados indicaram baixo consumo de fibras e consumo de carboidratos, proteínas e lipídeos dentro dos valores de referência.
