Resumo: Pisciculture appears in contemporary times as an alternative for sustainable development. This research aimed to characterize the production of fish farming and the subjects involved in this activity in the regional section of the Orós reservoir, a homonymous municipality, the Ceará central-south region. It is a basic case study, with exploratory and descriptive objectives and a mixed approach. The participating subjects responded to an interview and presented the structures of their farms and the production records. The study reveals fish farming as a potential economic activity to be developed in the region. However, challenges such as relations with suppliers and employees, together with the uncertainty of water availability and the conflicting management of water resources make the activity risky for producers.

Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo caracterizar la producción de la piscicultura y los sujetos involucrados en esta actividad en el tramo regional del embalse de Orós, municipio homónimo, la región centro-sur de Ceará. Es un caso de estudio básico, con objetivos exploratorios y descriptivos y un enfoque mixto. Los sujetos participantes respondieron a una entrevista y presentaron las estructuras de sus fincas y los registros de producción. El estudio revela la piscicultura como una actividad económica potencial a desarrollar en la región. Sin embargo, desafíos como las relaciones con proveedores y empleados, junto con la incertidumbre de la disponibilidad de agua y la gestión conflictiva de los recursos hídricos hacen que la actividad sea riesgosa para los productores.A piscicultura surge na contemporaneidade como alternativa para o desenvolvimento sustentável. Esta pesquisa objetivou caracterizar a produção da piscicultura e os sujeitos envolvidos nesta atividade no recorte regional do açude Orós, município homônimo, região centro-sul do Ceará. Trata-se de um estudo de caso, de natureza básica, com objetivos exploratório e descritivo e abordagem mista. Os sujeitos participantes responderam a uma entrevista e apresentaram as estruturas de suas fazendas e os registros das produções. O estudo revela a piscicultura como potencial atividade econômica a ser desenvolvida na região.
