A CITY ON WATERS: USE AND QUALITY OF THE GROUNDWATER IN MOSSORÓ-RN

Resumo: | Mossoró city has water supply from groundwater (70%), capitated in their urban zone, however, there is not current registers end basic information of the wells, mealy bad information about water quality. The current study aimed identify use and quality of the groundwater, and hydrogeological aspects descriptions. For this, we constructed wells register with data from Information System of Groundwater – SIAGAS/CPRM, and Companhia de Águas e Esgoto do Rio Grande do Norte – CAERN. We evidenced the Apodi Aquifer System – AAS constituted for Barreiras aquifer, with function of the transference of water to Jandaíra aquifer, characterized as unconfined as karstic, Quebradas aquitard, forming a confidant to semi-confinant layer for Açu aquifer. This is the most productive and has good quality waters for several uses but has been presented decrease of the water quality. |

La ciudade de Mossoró tiene el 70% de la matriz de agua compuesta de agua subterránea capturada en el área urbana, sin embargo, la falta de información sobre el agua subterránea local es notable. Este estudio buscó identificar el uso y la calidad del agua subterránea, así como descripción hidrogeológica. Se construyó un registro de pozos con información y datos constructivos y de calidad del agua, cuyas fuentes fueron el Sistema de Información de Aguas Subterráneas - CPRM, y Companhia de Águas e Esgoto do Rio Grande do Norte. Existe el Sistema de Acuíferos Apodi - SAA, compuesto por el acuífero Barreiras, que funciona como un acuífero de transferencia, el acuífero Jandaíra como un acuífero libre, el acuítard Quebradas compone una capa de confinamiento para el acuífero Açu. Este último es el más productivo, sin restricciones de uso por la calidad, pero con pérdidas cualitativas de agua.A cidade de Mossoró possui 70% da matriz hídrica composta por água subterrânea captada na própria área urbana, contudo, é notável a falta de informações sobre as águas subterrâneas locais. Este estudo buscou identificar o uso e qualidade das águas subterrâneas, bem como a descrição hidrogeológica. Para isso, foi compilado cadastros de poços com informações construtivas e de qualidade da água, cujas fontes foram o Sistema de Informação de Água Subterrânea – SIAGAS/CPRM, e a Companhia de Águas e Esgoto do Rio Grande do Norte - CAERN. Há ocorrência do Sistema Aquífero Apodi - SAA, composto pelo aquífero Barreiras, funcionando como aquífero de transferência, o aquífero Jandaíra como aquífero livre, e o aquitardo Quebradas, compondo uma camada confinante a semi-confinante para o aquífero Açu.
