Resumo: Pseudostegophilus paulensis Miranda Ribeiro 1918 is an endemic parasitic species from the state of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil, with few registered occurrences in databases (15 records). Here, we present the first record of P. paulensis in the middle portion of the Anhumas River, a tributary of the Paranapanema River right bank. Specimens were collected in two environments with different ecological characteristics (lotic water running over gravel sediment and semi-lotic water with silty sediment on the bottom). We also present an updated occurrence map of the species in Brazil. This new record of P. paulensis in the upper Paraná River basin extends the geographic distribution of the species to the South of the state of São Paulo.  Furthermore, important ecological information remains unknown due to the lack of data about this group, such as habitat niches, vertical migration, growth patterns, reproduction, and feeding behavior.

Universidade Federal de Campina Grande - UFCG2023-12-29info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://revistas.ufcg.edu.br/ActaBra/index.php/actabra/article/view/64010.22571/2526-4338640Acta Brasiliensis; Vol 7 No 2 (2023): Acta Brasiliensis; 66-70Acta Brasiliensis; Vol 7 No 2 (2023): Acta Brasiliensis; 66-70Acta Brasiliensis; Vol 7 No 2 (2023): Acta Brasiliensis; 66-702526-43382526-432Xreponame:Acta Brasiliensis (Online)instname:Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG)instacron:UFCGenghttp://revistas.ufcg.edu.br/ActaBra/index.php/actabra/article/view/640/169Copyright (c) 2023 Acta Brasiliensisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGeller, Iago ViniciosGarcia, Diego A.Z.Jarduli, Lucas R.Jerep, Fernando C.Yabu, Marcelo S.H.Ferraz, João D.Lima, Moema C.Orsi, Mário L.2023-12-30T01:18:35Zoai:ActaBra.revistas.ufcg.edu.br:article/640Revistahttp://revistas.ufcg.edu.br/ActaBraPUBhttp://revistas.ufcg.edu.br/ActaBra/index.php/actabra/oaiactabrasiliensis@gmail.com || actabrasiliensis@gmail.com2526-432X2526-4338opendoar:2023-12-30T01:18:35Acta Brasiliensis (Online) - Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG)false
