In pediatric oncology, the most used therapeutic modalities are those that lead to a greater number of adverse effects considered to be feared, with alopecia one of the best known. This research aimed to investigate the impact of mourning alopecia in oncopediatric patients. It is a study with qualitative approach. In this perspective, the study had as subject seven children between 5 and 16 years followed up at the pediatric oncology service of the Hospital University Alcides Carneiro Campina Grande - PB. Data collection was carried out from semi-structured interviews, in which participants were selected by the progressive inclusion method being interrupted by the saturation criterion. A analysis was conducted according to the theoretical-analytical framework of Content Analysis. This study identified that for pediatric oncology patients the drop in hair impacts your body image and social relationships. In view of this, it is detected the need to provide the necessary guidance to health care professionals. health that interact with these children in the experience of their mourning. The results obtained also reveal the need to reflect on the proposed theme and suggest the need for further research dedicated to the issues at hand.
