Resumo: The Brazilian Government implemented irrigated perimeters to ameliorate problems of drought and poverty in the Northeast. In this sense, the objective of this work was to analyze the social, economic and environmental impacts generated by the practice of irrigated agriculture in the municipality of Pau dos Ferros-RN, resulting from the impacts caused by the activity. Obtained references on the topic, on-site visits and interviews with producers of the perimeter. It was observed the presence of negative impacts in the area, such as waste, contamination and water salinisation, compaction and soil erosion, deforestation caused by the removal of the native vegetation, high consumption of energy and public health problems.

En este sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar la social, económica y los impactos ambientales generados por la práctica de la agricultura de regadío en el municipio de Pau dos Ferros-RN, resultantes de los impactos provocados por la actividad. Referencias obtenidas sobre el tema, visitas sobre el terreno y entrevistas con los productores del perímetro. Se observó la presencia de impactos negativos en el área, tales como residuos, salinización del agua y la contaminación, la compactación y el suelo de la erosión, la deforestación causada por la eliminación de la vegetación nativa, alto consumo de energía y problemas de salud pública.Le gouvernement fédéral a mis en place des périmètres irrigués au Brésil dans le but d'atténuer les problèmes de sécheresse et de pauvreté dans le nord-est du pays. À la fin des années 1970, un périmètre irrigué a été réalisé dans la commune de Pau dos Ferros (RN). Des références bibliographiques sur le sujet, des visites sur place et des entretiens avec des producteurs du périmètre ont été obtenus. On a observé la présence d'impacts négatifs dans la zone, tels que les déchets, la contamination et la salinisation de l'eau, le compactage et l'érosion des sols, la déforestation causée par l'élimination de la végétation indigène pour la mise en œuvre des cultures, la forte consommation d'énergie et les problèmes de santé publique.O Governo Federal implantou perímetros irrigados no Brasil visando amenizar problemas da seca e pobreza no Nordeste. No final da década de 1970, implantou-se um perímetro irrigado no município de Pau dos Ferros (RN). Obteve-se referências bibliográficas sobre o tema, visitas in loco e entrevistas com produtores do perímetro.
