The present study aims to analyze gender challenges in the leadership of Enterprises in the Solidarity Economy. This is a qualitative research, carried out through semi-structured interviews and content analysis. 13 women were interviewed from the cities of Belo Horizonte - MG, Niterói - RJ, Crato - CE and Barbalha - CE. The results indicate that women entered the Solidarity Economy at challenging stages in their lives. They presented a transformational leadership model, with active and persuasive behaviors, aiming at participatory work, cooperation, collectivism and the common good. Although women who live in the same residence or have dependent children and grandchildren have greater difficulty in reconciling professional and personal life, they all reported a strong support network from their family members to work in the movement. Furthermore, they denounce sexist behavior from colleagues and clients, perceive the need to constantly validate their skills and have their spaces limited by colleagues, public servants and politicians. This study sheds light on the experience of leadership in a supportive and popular economic model, expanding the discussion regarding gender challenges.
