Resumo: This work addresses, in an introductory way, the technical-operational dimension within the context of professional training in Social Work. It identifies how prominent the theme is in the scientific output on Social Work in the two most important universities in the Northern region of Brazil, the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). The empirical basis for the analysis is a bibliographical survey (state of the art) carried out in the CAPES database of theses and dissertations. We conclude that this theme is poorly represented in the scientific research published in the area of Social Work and is even scarcer in the postgraduate programmes of the institutions in question, with the greater lack being at the UFPA.

La base empírica del análisis. Estos fueron los resultados de un relevamiento bibliográfico (estado del arte) realizado en la base de datos de tesis y disertaciones de CAPES. Concluimos, por el momento, que los temas que aborda este trabajo tienen una expresividad tímida en el universo de la investigación científica producida en el área del conocimiento del Trabajo Social y son aún más escasos en las instituciones públicas federales en lo que concierne a la producción en los cursos de posgrado de ambas IES del norte, con mayor atención a la incipiente producción académica sobre los temas de la UFPA.O presente trabalho aborda, de forma introdutória, a temática da dimensão técnico-operativa no contexto da formação profissional em Serviço Social, objetivando identificar como a temática figura na produção científica de Serviço Social nas duas mais importantes universidades da região Norte do Brasil, Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA) e Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM).
