Trans women, gender violence and the permanent witch hunt

Resumo: In this article, transphobic violence will be dealt with within the scope of gender violence, understood as historical and systematic structural violence based on a permanent witch hunt process. It is the maximum expression of patriarchy alongside colonialism and racism, structurally linked to primitive accumulation. In our analysis, transphobia is not only found in the field of lethal violence, but in the daily and systematic processes of rights violations. This results from the effects of the globalization of capital and the ultra-neoliberal offensive in countries with peripheral and dependent capitalism such as Brazil. All these elements are analyzed as determinants for the structural exclusion of trans people, and states that transphobic violence occurs as trans women resist the hegemonic gender matrix. Capital Crisis.Neste artigo, a violência transfóbica será tratada no escopo da violência de gênero, compreendida como uma violência estrutural, que é histórica e sistemática, a partir de um processo permanente de caça às bruxas, expressão máxima do patriarcado junto com o colonialismo e o racismo, vinculada estruturalmente à acumulação primitiva. Em nossas análises, a transfobia não estará apenas no terreno da violência letal, mas, antes, em processos cotidianos e sistemáticos de violações de direitos, em face dos efeitos da mundialização do capital e da ofensiva ultraneoliberal em países de capitalismo periférico e dependente como o Brasil. Todos esses elementos são analisados como determinantes para a exclusão estrutural de pessoas trans, afirmando-se, também, que a violência transfóbica se realiza na medida em que as mulheres trans exercem resistência à matriz hegemônica de gênero.
