Etnografias: pesquisas linguísticas em comunidades tradicionais na Amazônia amapaense

This article seeks to highlight the ethnographic approach present in linguistic research carried out in the Amazon of Amapá. As a theoretical framework, the text presents a brief discussion about ethnography, starting from the propositions of Malinowski (2018), who understands ethnography as a descriptive method, and assuming the perspective of Geertz (2012), who presents ethnography to interpret the culture. Thus, we selected three studies focusing on different cultural, historical and linguistic aspects of traditional communities: (i) the research by Oliveira (2015), who studies the oral tradition in religious manifestations in Mazagão Velho/AP; (ii) the research by Coelho (2022), which addresses historical and sociocultural issues of the quilombola community of Cunani/AP; and, finally, (iii) the research by Sanches (2020), which brings indigenous reports as depositaries of the foundation history of the villages of the Karipuna do Amapá ethnic group in . These studies show the inheritance of the ethnographic methodology in traditional communities of Amapá Amazon in the intention of registering and documenting the histories, ways of life, traditions and knowledge preserved and propagated through orality.
