Resumo: The article aims to reflect on the narratives produced in didactic books about the senses and the African civilizational references associated with ancient Egypt. The first part of the text reserves a (re)visit to some authors who discuss the subject from the African perspective and the theses of Afrocentrism and Afrocentricity, such as Théophile Obenga, Babacar Sall, A. Moussa Lam and Molefi Asante. Dialogue also with the readings that problematize the question of the Africanity of Old Egypt, but without following an Afrocentric affiliation, from authors like Elikia M’Bokolo and Ella Shohat. Finally, as the main objective of the essay, I analyze a set formed by three textbooks of History, approved in the PNLD of 2018, destined to High School. The intention was to see if the authors of these manuals shared the Eurocentric looks, marked by the modern / colonial / racist logic about this ancient civilization, or if, in their texts, an critique is given out and attentive to the historical protagonism of the African societies.
