Resumo: Children and adolescents who have suffered some type of domestic violence or negligence are referred to Institutional Shelter – a temporary protection measure in the Brazilian context, which aims to reintegrate this victim to his family of origin or to a new family cycle that favors healthy development. In Institutional Shelters, it is essential that professionals are prepared and aware to deal with this population, since, depending on the frequency, severity and duration of the violence suffered, these children and adolescents may be in a group at clinical risk for development antisocial behaviors, such as aggression, self-injury and disobedience. It is understood, therefore, the need to understand the participation of caregivers or social educators in the maintenance of antisocial behaviors of children and adolescents in care and to develop practical material to guide the management of behaviors by these professionals. Therefore, the objectives of this research were: to describe the difficulties of caregivers with problematic behavior of the hosted, classifying which antisocial behaviors caregivers have greater difficulty in dealing with; identify the role in contingencies of antisocial behaviors emitted by adolescents; verify the agreement of the characteristics of antisocial behaviors among caregivers; develop a material in the form of a booklet with a practical nature that guides caregivers and other professionals about the management of antisocial responses. In Study 1, Antisocial behaviors of adolescents in foster care: an indirect functional assessment based on the difficulties of caregivers, the Functional Analysis Screening Tool was used to carry out an Indirect Assessment (Functional Assessment) of the antisocial behaviors of fostered adolescents and hypothesize functions , and a Difficulty Scale, in order to investigate which behaviors caregivers have greater and lesser difficulty in dealing with. The results and interpretations pointed out that the main functions were attention as a social reinforcer and the function of cessation of aversive stimulation as a negative reinforcer of escape/avoidance. This research pointed out the great involvement of caregivers in the inadvertent maintenance of antisocial behavior of a fostered adolescent, demonstrating the insufficiency of knowledge and effective practices in the resolution and management of problematic behaviors by educators. Regarding difficulties, the behavior rated as the most difficult to deal with was destroying objects and the easiest to attack. Despite these answers, the triple contingency assessment pointed out divergences between the answers given and the contingencies described. In Study 2, Management of antisocial behaviors of children and adolescents in institutional care: a hornbook proposal for caregivers, it was proposed the development of a practical booklet and it was segmented into 5 sections: introduction, life story, prosociability, triple contingency teaching and completion. The hornbook was named “Problem behavior management: A hornbook for caregivers” and was evaluated by eight judges (three psychologists - a CA specialist, a master and a doctor, a psychopedagogist, an AI social educator, a coordinator of a home of AI, a social worker and a kindergarten teacher), who assessed the applicability and clarity of the content. A final version has been prepared, posted online and will be shared with Institutional Shelters.
