Resumo: Purpose: The purpose of this article is to understand how society, as a representative of QH, operates in STPs consolidated from the perception of its managers. Methodology: Multiple case studies were adopted in three consolidated Brazilian STPs. Data were collected through field notes, documents and interviews, triangulated and subjected to content analysis. Findings: Among the results stand out the associations, liberal professionals and collective as representatives of society, it is perceived in a beneficial and active way, which varies according to the studied STP, and there are strong relations of society with the future conceptions of the STPs. Social and Practical Implications: The Scientific and Technological Parks (STPs) have evolved their function beyond a space for job and income generation, the future of STPs has been approached as a diffuse space in the city that acts far beyond its walls, directly impacting society.  This connection with society goes back to the Quadruple Helix (QH) model, which presents theoretical needs in its representation and operationalization, especially in innovation environments. Originality: This article contributes by elucidating the representations of society and their characterization, bringing differentiation in peripheral environments, contributes to the description of the ways of connecting society and also by pointing out the different paths that are pursued to increase the rapprochement with society.

Para tanto, foi adotado o estudo de casos múltiplos em três PCTs brasileiros consolidados. Metodologia: Foi adotado o estudo de casos múltiplos em três PCTs brasileiros consolidados. Os dados foram coletados por meio de notas de campo, documentos e entrevistas, triangulados e submetidos a análise de conteúdo. Resultados: Entre os resultados destacam-se as associações, profissionais liberais e coletivos como representantes da sociedade, que foi percebida de forma beneficiária e ativa, o que varia de acordo com o PCT estudado, e há fortes relações da sociedade com as concepções futuras dos PCTs. Implicações práticas e sociais: Os PCTs tem evoluído sua função para além de um espaço de geração de emprego e renda, o futuro dos PCTs tem sido abordado como um espaço difuso na cidade e que atua extramuros, impactando diretamente a sociedade. Essa conexão com a sociedade remonta ao modelo de Hélice Quádrupla (HQ), que apresenta carências teóricas em sua representação e operacionalização, principalmente em ambientes de inovação.
