Entrepreneurial University:: A bibliometric study about scientific production

The objective of this work was to analyze the profile of the publications of the main journals focused on the approach of the Universidade Empreendedora. The study was conducted by the statistical technique of Bibliometry, following its Laws: Lotka's Law, Brandford's Law and Zipf's Law, in addition to other information regarding the scientific production from 1983 to 2019. The study adopted a quantitative approach of a descriptive nature. The search resulted in a sample of 229 articles in the Web of Science, Scopus, Speel and EBSCO databases. Bibliometric results do not confirm the guidelines estimated by Lotka's Law, that is, it did not characterize elitism among the authors. Brandford's Law has been confirmed for analysis of journals, similarly, Zipf's Law has been confirmed, a small group of words occurs many times and a large number of words are of little frequency. The peak of publications was in the year 2019 with more than 18% of the publications, and the accumulated of the last five years is equivalent to 59.39% of the whole sample. In addition to bibliometrics, the study points to the predominance of qualitative empirical research topic, and the case study method is among the most used for scientific research on the entrepreneurial university. From the results found it is suggested that the scale of the world university community goes towards the model of the entrepreneurial university with exponential acceleration, in search of the accomplishment of the third mission of the university, focused on economic and social development.
