Resumo: The supply chain management is an important tool to increase the agribusiness chain competitiveness in general, especially those in the sugarcane sector. Specific techniques and organizational linked to the production of sugar and ethanol reinforce this importance. The goal of this article is to present conceptions related to supply chain and identify, within the investigated opportunities, the most competitive way to realize acquisition, storage and distribution processes of pesticides, aiming at inventory level reduction and increase of reliability and the quality of the supply process of these materials. As a result of this paper, it was indicated the VOIM as the most adequate model for a company in the sugarcane area.

As a result of this paper, it was indicated the VOIM as the most adequate model for a company in the sugarcane area.A gestão da cadeia de suprimentos é ferramenta importante para o aumento da competitividade das cadeias agroindustriais de produção em geral e, especialmente, para aquelas do setor sucroenergético. Especificidades técnicas e organizacionais ligadas a produção de açúcar e etanol acentuam esta importância. Este artigo tem por objetivo apresentar alguns conceitos relacionados à cadeia de suprimentos e utilizá-los para identificar, dentre as opções estudadas, a maneira mais econômica de realizar os processos de aquisição, armazenagem e distribuição de defensivos agrícolas nesta cadeia produtiva. Pretende-se identificar o sistema mais eficiente para a redução dos níveis de estoque e aumento da confiabilidade e qualidade do processo de abastecimento dos materiais.
