Resumo: | Agricultural activity, in general, has significant importance to the Brazilian economy. Understanding climate variability and changes in the growing region is necessary for a healthy grain yield. Air temperature and precipitation are the main variables responsible for changes in these patterns. Therefore, a proper comprehension of the impacts caused by these changes in crops can help farmers carry out healthy and sustainable agricultural activities. Thus, this study aims to elaborate an agricultural calendar for small farmers in the municipality of Cachoeiras de Macacu, Rio de Janeiro, to help them plan and manage different crops in the field and the optimal use of water resources according to the elaborated calendar. To this end, the following steps were performed: calculation of water surplus and deficit and agroclimatic suitability for the municipality of Cachoeiras de Macacu in the state of Rio de Janeiro; elaboration of a sustainable agricultural calendar for cultivating and planting annual and perennial crops produced in the region; and calculation of agroclimatic risk for crops to guide them regarding the risk associated with water availability. Preliminary results showed that the most favorable crops from the suitability viewpoint were açaí, onion, guava, and corn. Para que se tenha um rendimento saudável dos grãos, faz-se necessário o entendimento da variabilidade e das mudanças climáticas da região de cultivo. A temperatura do ar e a precipitação são as principais variáveis responsáveis pelas modificações nesses padrões. Portanto, uma boa compreensão dos impactos provocados nas culturas por essas alterações pode ajudar na realização de uma atividade agrícola saudável e sustentável por parte dos agricultores. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste trabalho é a elaboração de um calendário agrícola para os pequenos agricultores do Município de Cachoeiras de Macacu, no Rio de Janeiro, para auxiliá-los no planejamento e manejo de diferentes culturas no campo, bem como na ideal utilização dos recursos hídricos, segundo o calendário elaborado. Para tanto, as seguintes etapas foram executadas: cálculo do excedente e déficit hídrico e a aptidão agroclimática para o Município de Cachoeiras de Macacu, situado no estado do Rio de Janeiro; elaboração de um calendário agrícola sustentável para cultivo e plantio de culturas anuais e perenes produzidas na região e cálculo do risco agroclimático para as culturas, de modo a norteá-los em relação ao risco associado à disponibilidade hídrica. Os resultados preliminares mostraram que as culturas mais favoráveis do ponto de vista da aptidão foram o açaí, a cebola, a goiaba e o milho.
